Welcome

Welcome to my blog, SCRIBBLING TO (IN)SANITY! First time here? I'm a romance writer who wants to believe most problems can be solved over coffee, a mixed drink or by anything covered in chocolate. I'm a believer in second chances and that it's always the right time to fall in love. As the saying goes, you're a guest in my house only once...then you're family. So I invite you to join the fun! I love comments but it's okay to lurk too - just know I'm glad you've found me and I hope you visit me again soon!

The New Logo

Photobucket

I've been thinking a lot the past few months about branding.

It's pretty much the buzz word lately.

It's a buzz word that can make a writer just a little bit insane thinking about it, how to get it and what to do with it.

I'm not ready to go completely insane yet, so I'm starting small with a logo (and this new blog) and have enjoyed finding myself along the way.

I still have a month to go before my website will begin the creation phase with the fabulous Rae Monet and I decided that it might be cool to have a simple logo made up, for things like pens, magnets and other promo items that catch my eye when I'm procrastinating (which will be a LOT less often once my website is out of my hands!)

I wanted something simple, of course in my favorite colors of purple and green and I had to have an hourglass.

Why the hourglass?

The hourglass has roots going back thousands of years. It represents the passage of time, the inevitability of life of death, heaven and hell. It symbolizes the cycle of emptiness and fullness, similar to joy and sorrow and the balance between them - the way all life is always in a state of flux. It's also the element of change, flip it over and the clock resets. As long as the sand doesn't run out, it can be shifted, just like life can take a turn at any given moment. I find that exciting and optimistic, even as the sands rush from top to bottom. The shape is also very sensual - perfect for that spicy side of my writing.

From tarot cards to the bible, the hourglass is a reminder that change is constant and life is about balance as the sands shift, ticking off time.

Writing time travel romance I KNEW this was the symbol for me.

I've got dozens of quotes tacked to the board above my computer that all have to do with time. Along with being a die-hard believer in happy endings, I also believe it's never to too late to follow your heart and achieve your dreams, just turn over your hourglass and go for it!

At the core of everything I write is the theme of the second chance, there's always time to right the wrong, find true love and follow dreams - it just might not be now *wink*

Do you have a symbol that you think reflects you?

  2. Congrats lady! That is awesome.

You would ask about symbols wouldn't you? I have no idea what I would choose. Something Celtic in nature, but would it fit...

    1. Thanks Mae! I've been stuck on this for a long time and then a few months back the whole hourglass symbol just hit me. So perfect for me.
You'll find yours - probably when you're not thinking about it too hard. LOL

  7. What a terrific logo - and yep, I was even wondering as I studied the hourglass ("I wonder if she writes time travel, because the hourglass is perfect for that!"). It's neat and clean and eye-catching.

Kudos on the new blog, and I can't wait to see what you and Rae come up with for your website. She did mine 2 years ago after I saw a friend's stunning site created by Rae & her team, and I continue to be thrilled & sing Rae's praises every chance I get.

Enjoy these new steps in good health!

    1. I'm very excited to work with Rae and her team! And I'm thrilled that the hourglass and my time travel romance link together easily for others to figure out (I always worry that I do things that are clear as mud! LOL)
